The weld is placed at a specially shaped point of contact on the workpiece. This point of contact can consist of, for instance, a projection, annular or elongated projections. Simultaneous welding of several projections is possible. Sufficiently large electrodes will cover all welds which are to be welded in a single operation. Either overlap or butt joint.
Examples of weldable items:
• Sheet metal projection welding of bolts and nuts specially designed for projection welding and available on the market
• Projection welding of rod stock items, such as bolts and tappets (pins)
• Projection welding of piping in T or cruciform joints as well as spigots, pipe fins and cams
• Cross-wire welding is a projection welding process
